![]() ![]() ![]() They lag behind in features but that gap is getting smaller every day. My experience with VMware has been simpler to install and manage overall. For the life of me I cannot logically understand how this encountered issues, but I don't write the code. The eventual cause? Because the SQL backend had a mirror, and we never updated XenDesktop via PowerShell to include the mirror. When it came time to test an application it wouldn't run. Let the installer build the databases, manually enabled a mirror on the backend, and went forward. Two weeks ago I stood up a new environment. A lot of required infrastructure and when things don't work properly the error messages are very difficult to use to pinpoint the root cause. I've personally found the install and configuration of Citrix XenDesktop 7.x to be painful. For the purpose of this post I'll focus on the more recent versions which I'm more familiar with. I consult on both technologies and I've stood them both up side by side on multiple occasions. ![]()
